Progresso |
This is a "unique" port. Carnival has an
exclusive with them so very few (only Carnival) ships stop there.
And you will see why. It is a far cry from
most other ports. The water is not inviting
and there isn't much to do in the town itself.
Massages on the beach, drinking cheap tequila and
shopping for cheap stuff is about all we've ever
done. Which works for us, saves us a lot of
money on excursions. By all means - get off
the ship and say you've been to Progresso.
Spend some money - the people there need it and then
get back on the ship and watch the drunks return. There are other
excursions available just be sure and read the
reviews. I refuse any bus ride that exceeds 30
minutes. I'm old, I'm grouchy and that is my
rule. |

Cozumel |
There are lots of things to do here. We are
partial to Passion Island and the Twister boat ride
that takes you there. However there are nice
beaches a short cab ride from the port and numerous
other options. This is a small island that
caters to tourists. This will be election day.
A good day to be away from the ship. Maybe
even a good day to drink . . . a lot! |
